The McLaughlin Family's Traditional Christmas Brunch: Monday, December 21st, 2009

Every year during the Christmas season, the McLaughlin family gathers at Seattle's Fairmont Olympic Hotel for a delicious brunch in the Georgian Room's private dining room. We missed Ryan and his family this year!

I perused the Seattle Times, Seattle's major newspaper, as I waited for the waiter to take my brunch order! Michael McGinn was just elected as Seattle's new mayor.

Aunt Darcy and our waiter help me decide what to order!

My "Northwest Eggs Benedict" - with smoked salmon rather than Canadian bacon...YUM!!

Grandma Jolly and Papa David - Ryan's great-grandparents - have been coming to the Olympic Hotel since the war years! Once they saw the famous actor, Spencer Tracy, at a dance there!

Grandpa David, Ryan's mother's dad, is still smiling...he hasn't received the bill yet!

Grandma Sally and Grandpa David consulting with Santa in the hotel lobby!

Aunt Darcy and Uncle Freddy are alarmed to see that their names are missing from Santa's list! (I was relieved to see my name recorded on the "nice" side!)

Uncle Freddy challenges the Nutcracker - both seem to want of piece of me! Scary!!

I drop Uncle Freddy off at his apartment in Seattle...and meet "Scotch the Wonder Dog!" Scotch emigrated from Botswana, Africa and, like me, is enjoying his first Christmas in Seattle!

Aunt Darcy and me on the porch of her Capitol Hill home...a lovely mansion that dates from the turn of the century. Darcy rents a room there!
